April Zahlmann

April Zahlmann is a master’s level counseling intern. She received her BA of Arts in Psychology from the University of Arizona, and her Masters of Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University. April has always had a passion for helping people.  She is happily married with 2 children and a goldendoodle. April enjoys an active life; she loves the beach, traveling, and spending time with her family.

She found her faith in Christ as a child life and has a deep love for the Word of God. She has endured many life challenges and her steadfast love and dependance in God has allowed her to grow deeper in her faith and gain priceless wisdom. She is passionate about joining others on their healing journey and ultimately gaining peace and freedom through their relationship with Jesus Christ.

April is trained in EMDR therapy which is a trauma-focused therapy approach that addresses the roots of trauma.  She strongly believes that if someone can address the underlying roots of a problem and not just the symptoms, they can experience healing that lasts. She counsels from a Biblical world view which she believes is key to transformation in a client April will see clients ages 10 and older and can provide counseling for couples. When working with children and adolescents April is energetic and engaging. With her counseling style and personality, you can expect to experience a compassionate, non-judgmental, and caring environment.

She works under the supervision of Theresa Hay, MS, LPC, NCC, who is an approved Clinical Supervisor by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health. 

April will see clients at the Surprise office on Tuesdays and Thursdays and at the Glendale office on Fridays.
